The FSC Labeling Program
Represented in more than 50 countries around the world, the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit organization that supports environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world's forests. Its certification and labeling programs help businesses and consumers make purchasing decisions for environmentally responsible consumption with a guarantee that certified products meet internationally recognized criteria.
Carrying the FSC-certification logo on your print collateral shows your support for elimination of habitat destruction, water pollution, displacement of indigenous peoples and violence against people and wildlife that often accompanies logging.
In order to display FSC trademarks on your printed materials, they must be printed by a certified printer on certified paper. Depending on your paper selection, your collateral can carry one of three types of labels:
| 100% Pure Label | |
For papers that are made of 100% FSC-certified virgin fiber. |
| Mixed Sources Label | |
For papers that are made of a combination of FSC-certified virgin fiber mixed with controlled virgin fiber and/or recycled fiber. (NOTE: Controlled fiber has been independently verified to not come from illegally harvested forests, natural forests converted to plantations, threatened high conservation value forests, areas of social conflict, or GMOs.) |
| Recycled Label | |
For papers that are made with 100% recycled fiber and at least 85% of which is post-consumer recycled. The % placed in the mobius loop is the % of post-consumer recycled fiber only. |
